Vulcan Gold or Turbo IDE

I need some serious advice.  I have a Vulcan 40 meg. hard drive which
is pretty slow.  From what I understand the Vulcan Gold upgrade is a
new controller that increases the speed.  I think heard some bad
things about the Vulcan Gold though.  That guy in Germany put an add in GS+
for his Turbo IDE card.  I've heard it's supposed to be pretty good
but it's expensive.  The Vulcan Gold upgrade goes for about $50 mail
order but this guy wants $159 for the Turbo IDE + $24 for shipping.
So, if the Vulcan Gold is good and the Turbo IDE isn't much faster, I
would just as soon go for the Vulcan Gold.  I would appreciate if
someone could fill me in on the details of both cards and maybe do a
comparison.  Also, how much faster are these cards than the standard
Vulcan controller?
