Re: ATTENTION high-speed modem users!

Paul "The Oggman" Parkhurst says that the cable he mentioned in his "HST
Speed" articles (described below) neatly sidesteps this problem with the
CTS signal and the HSKi line; this cable basically uses the GPi line to
support the CTS signal. Is it possible that more software (PT3, METAL,
ProLine/ModemWorks, GNO's drivers) be modified to work with this cable?

Apple IIGS to Modem - Flow-control

IIGS (DIN-8)    Modem (DB-25)
-----------------------------
  1 (HSKo)  ------>  4 (RTS)
               |
                --> 20 (DTR)
  2 (HSKi)  <------  8 (DCD)
  3 (TxD-)  ------>  2 (TxD)
  5 (RxD-)  <------  3 (RxD)
  7 (GPi)   <------  5 (CTS)
  4 (GND)   <----->  7 (GND)
               |
  8 (RxD+)  <--

Note: I have added the extra connections to pin-4 (RTS) at the modem and
pin-8 (RxD+) at the serial port. Paul's cable originally didn't include
these connections (in fact, he's had a problem with connecting pin-8) but I
included them in keeping with the design of other Apple II modem-cables
(i.e. InSync's) which indicate that these signals should be connected.

(Wanders off mumbling something about so what do y'all think?)

Be seeing you...
