Hello,
I actually tried several drives of the advertised sizes that AE sold
with a Gold 2.0 IIgs card and couldn't get a single drive to work. I
think they hard coded it all the way up to the GOLD 2.0 ROM. When I
tracked down the three Connor CP3104 drives I needed, I was able to
get them to work right away with GOLD 2.0.
When I was testing other 100 mb and 40 mb drives, absolutely none of
them would work. It might see them and usually it didn't. The card
would sit in slot 7, blink it's red light looking for a drive and then
eventually drop to slot 6. I even used a secondary power supply to
power the drives up first to make sure I wasn't killing the Vulcan GS
supplies (before I re-capped them). Also tried the Little Power IIe to
drive the motherboard and drives and it didn't go.
I think they are hard coded all the way up.
Anyone know how to fiddle with a ROM to add more info? Haha..
Best!
