Carte Blanche update

As the day comes closer when we'll actually get the boards back from the 
assembly house I have finished a beta version of the default 
configuration. As it is work in progress I'm not posting details here 
for some parts are likely to change. In fact I'm actively soliciting 
ideas on the user interface implementation. So please take a look at
