I agree.  You don't match the waveforms, but the frequency spectrum
and its envelope.  256-point FFT's only take a fraction of a second,
but that would keep you from sampling continuously, which is what is
needed to observe the sharp envelope.

Capturing the waveform would require an analog-to-digital converter
(ADC) card capable of sampling at least 20K samples per second.
