I am sorry. I didn't expect a lot of people to read that schematics too closely :)
The used SRAM chip has nothing to do with DS1245. I just used a library
part with the right pinout. The actual part used is AS6C1008 (128K) or
AS6C4008 (512K).

Those who got a kit are of course free to experiment with other chips but these are pretty good for reasons mentioned.

I agree that having a RAM disk on an NV RAM is attractive, but not sure the existing driver would not attempt to "reformat" it every time.

Also if files can be easily accessed on a ProDOS volume mounted on CFFA, it becomes less important to have NV RAM.
