The money in many cases is going to the families or trusts. Yes the studios are getting money. It is not just laws in the US, there are International laws that are enforced by Interpol and other agencies, even China is starting to enforce. Several years ago I went to the Software Publishers Association because a site was allowing D/L of
code that I owned. They refused to remove it and it took me a while
to even locate the site, when I did I had the site removed and the
SWPA took the legal action. You are making the same claims as the
Pirates made in the 80's, theft is theft.

No, I am not making such claims. If a site refused to take your code off, they must have been pretty stupid. Out of curiosity, what exactly were they offering for download?

Makes you wonder why Disney wants to hold onto these ancient cartoons so badly anyway, given that many of them have material that would not be considered politically correct nowadays.

Indeed if the copyrights on their cartoons expired, they could still sell $50 DVD sets of them. Nobody would buy them (and I'm sure no one does now), but they could do it. None of it really matters to me personally, since I never cared for Disney and wouldn't watch most of their cartoons for free or money.

The sit was located in Canada and what they had online in the Apple II area was GBBS and a Beta version of LLUCE. They also had new version of Windows and all kinds of DVDs for D/L. From what I could tell the site had been up for several years, I was told about it from one of the GBBS Sysops.

If you follow Disney you will see that every 10 years or so they will release older animated movies for the kids of the time. They are sold for 6 months or so then pulled.

When I was growing up in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, next dor to us was one of the animators for Disney, I got to see the inside of the Burbank studio and over the years he gave us cuts that were used for their animated movies, he told us to keep them, that they would be worth a lot of money later, at the time they just tossed them out. I have have many of them and they are worth thousands of dollars, I have been offered money for them, but for now I'm just keeping hem.
