Hello Steven.

There's an MVP on eBay for $349.00. This is not a $349 problem, however :-).

I agree. Not a bad price though if you want a good programmer. I paid something like $550 for mine a few years back. But I have found them for $100 and under. Actually I see there's a U84 for less then the MVP. That's the one to get if you do spend the big bucks. Humm... $260... I may just bid on it. ;-)

Henry, you are in business. It could easily be a $200+ problem in your case :-). I have to draw the line somewhere, or my better half will become, um, upset.

Do you know anything about the older "Sailor" programmer? They do a dance around providing any specs for it and are clearly trying to get folks to buy a recent model. Unclear whether the software is even available for it.

Yeah, like Bill mentions there really isn't any info on them. As far as I know they are REALLY old. No support is offered or give for them. So it's a shot in the dark. If it comes with software then I bet it's DOS only - they are that old. Of course the unit is only $18. May only support EPROMs though.

I find it just infuriating how some vendors gleefully discard any and all information about older units. I mean, how much trouble is it pop up a scan of the manual and some diskette images or ZIP archives? No one is asking for them to support it, but it's just common courtesy to at least make them available "as is".

If HP and Tektronix can supply information (and, in some cases, parts) relative to 30 year old test equipment, these guys should certainly be able to oblige on an early-90s programmer.

That unit doesn't come with software as far as I can tell, so it's basically worthless. All I _want_ it for is to read/burn older EPROMs, so it's potentially perfect. I have a Willem 4.5 for newer EPROMS and MPUs and a Stag programmer for PAL/GAL/PLD devices.
