Actually, there are few SCSI cards that use the *same* partition table
format--it's a mess.

You'd think that Apple's format would have set the standard, but they
simply adapted the Mac scheme, which is pretty top-heavy for an
Apple II.  As a result, most other disk controller makers developed
their own, simpler, schemes--all different.  ;-(

This situation is also true in the IDE and CF drive arena, though
having only "master" and "slave" drives reduces the daisy-chaining
opportunity somewhat.

The place where it hurts most is in sacrificing interchangeability
of recorded media between controller cards, especially since CF media
is removeable.
