I was wondering if replacement of the original quartz oscillator
located above the VGC might be useful to increase overall IIgs speed.
4 mhz would be an interesting increase. Furthermore 65C816 cpu
commonly used on IIgs is rated to 4 mhz.

The quartz i'm referring to Is located above the VGC but a replacement
with a faster unit i guess could affect refresh of video signal,
serial ports funcionality and even smartport. According you might be
worth a try?
