Re: Display for Apple IIGS

Hi,

I think basically for Super Hires 320x200 mode, they work very nice
except for white - which you probably will see some color on the side,
similar to how Hires looks. For 640x200 mode, they looks more or less
like double hires on a color screen. They looks fine as monochrome
mode on my ROM 3 GS, but on my ROM 1 GS, for whatever reason, the
monochrome does not delivered non-color result.

The main issue with 640x200 mode is the color dithering that supposed
to fool the eyes into seeing some other colors. But I can see the
stripes so they look weird.

So I think the conclusion is right - it is perfectly fine for playing
320x200 mode games on an LCD TV with a simple composite video cable.
640x200 mode either needs 1) an RGB monitor or 2) on ROM 3, uses
monochrome mode. In fact, playing games on big screen feels very
different from a small 12" monitor (with a probably 9" display area
due to the large borders!).
