A bit of distinction is required here. ProDOS itself is simply a kernel
and doesn't interact with the user. In this case I think Michael refers
to BASIC.SYSTEM which is a command interpreter for ProDOS 8. There are
any number of these available with a number of attributes. Some examples
are Davex, ECP8, Command.com as well as the command shells for any
number of development environments such as Kyan's KIX or Aztec's C
shell, HyperC's shell etc.

Most if not all of the aforementioned shells allow command line
parameters. IIRC some BASIC.SYSTEM routines did so also, perhaps from
Glen's utility set but I've forgotten which.
