Unfortunately not all CF cards are created equal. Especially when it comes 
to TrueIDE mode and DMA. We've had all sorts of problems using different 
manufacturers in various configurations and it's a case of finding one that 
works and trying to stick to that.

Do you know if the controller you're using is running PIO or DMA mode?
