I am using the RGB to Video, S-VIdeo & Component Video encoder available here: http://www.jrok.com/hardware/RGBv4/index.htmlI wired a 15-Pin Sub-D port to the RGB input header so I can plug theGS straight into it using an original monitor cable. Incidently, I just tried the S-video output and it doesn't evenexhibit the dithering effect.
That's probably because of bandwidth rolloff in the S-video signal processing. 16MHz is more than most S-video inputs will expect. Unfortunately, this may also compromise sharpness of small features, like text. And small features with hue contrast but no luminance contrast will be nearly invisible, since S-video chroma information is band-limited to well under 3MHz. -michael NadaNet file server for Apple II computers!
