Well.. why would they have wanted to produce *a IIgs* that had only 256
KB of RAM?

The Amiga 500 and the Atari 520ST had 512K, so this card would've
brought you up to par with them. Seems like a reasonable thing in
1986/87, though obviously not in 1989.
