To answer your question - it uses the IIgs serial, not the SSC card.
And yes you are correct (from what I've read) regarding MS-CHAP. XP
supports MS-CHAPv1 and v2, however Vista drops support for v1.
I gave it another shot and I must be getting close as the logs on my
WinXP machine say that I'm connected, but on the IIgs side it says
something like (sorry this is from memory) "Negotiating PPP settings"
but unfortunately times out after a few seconds. I've tried connecting
at serial speeds of 9600 and 19200, but so far I have the same
problem. Its probably because my PPP script isn't doing the right
thing or that my Tool-128/129 aren't working as advertised (not sure
why). I've tailored it so that it has got WinXP thinking its
connected, but something goes astray during the negotiation phase.
I scoured the internet and came across sites that connected to WinXP
using mobile phones, and used the general steps that they used within
their PPP scripts - ie. send CLIENT twice, wait for CLIENTSERVER
response, then do MS-CHAP negotiation.
I'll give it another go, and also have a chat to Andrew later in the
week during our weekly IRC "get-together".. :-)
If I do manage to get success, I'll post my configuration details used
to get it working.
cheers,
