Re: Simple Menu Program ?

My IIGS boots from a CF drive into GS/OS 6. Instead of the Finder, I'd
like to boot into a quick-n-dirty menu program. Something with large
(tiled?) icons and text descriptions, the icons/buttons could be
mouse-clicked or keyboard-selected. The IIGS display is currently a
27" TV connected via a VOC, so easy readibility and use is a must. I
vaugely remember something like this, (maybe from Econ Technologies?),
and I'd like to implement it so my kids can get into the paint
programs and educational stuff - some apps are executable and some are
800k disk images.

I'd be inclined to write a simple Applesoft program to display
the 2-6 "icons" as an HGR page, and use HPLOT statements to
draw (and erase) "selection" boxes around them in turn as
the arrow keys were used to "move" the selection. The Enter
key, space bar, or whatever could cause the selected program
to be loaded and run.

I'm not sure how to start a GSOS program from ProDOS, but it
seems doable...
