There was clearly an alternative vision for the II product line that
failed to be realised. It's easy to see how the product line could
have been rationalised down to the IIgs and IIc+ by 1988.
I've always enjoyed playing with the idea of how things would have
been different had the IIe been discontinued with the IIgs's
introduction.
Of course in this alternate reality, the IIc+ is a IIgs sans slots,
which is what it should have been rather than a simple response to the
Laser 128 EX, IMHO
