Another method would be to ping another box and check the ARP table on that
box afterward ("arp -a" will list MAC addresses for every host on the LAN
that's tried talking to the machine in the past few minutes).

Is there no sticker on the card with the MAC address?  I'd think the
Ethernet module it uses would have a sticker with the address on it
somewhere; it might be necessary to unplug the module from the carrier board
to see/read it.
