That should allow you to connect a IIgs to a Linux box running netatalk,
so the Linux box acts as a file server for the IIgs (as long as netatalk
supports the authentication method used by the IIgs).

I haven't no idea whether a2boot will work (I hadn't heard of it
before), but that is a software issue. A LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge
will solve the hardware issue.

Ok, I think two issues are being confused:

1. Booting of A2 from a Linux machine running netatalk (this is the one
   Marsha and I hacked on - uses free software).

2. Booting of A2 from an older Mac running Appletalk server (requires
   that you "somehow" acquire commercial software).

The transport media is a disjoint matter, since both of the these can tunnel through ethernet.
