I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in this group for pointing me in the right direction on my new Apple II journey. I've successfully upgraded my Apple IIe to an enhanced //e thanks to GSE Reactive. I've successfully installed and am exploring new possibilities using the CFFA card. I've downloaded a couple gigs of software that I'll probably never get through 1/15th of that I'm finding to be a unique and interesting experience to work with. I've even learned a thing or two about electronics, digital circuits and other topics in this forum.
Classic computing holds the same potential for IT professionals (especially programmers like myself) that history holds for political scientists. We must learn to use and appreciate the past and realize that the past holds lots of great value and applicability to today. Want proof? My kids (5 and 3) love to play M.U.L.E. (C64), Ms. Pacman (Atari 800xl), and Apple Presents Apple (duh). They both love the instant gratification of typing a "letter" directly to the printer of my Adam. Children are the proof that great products stand on their own merits regardless of the advances of technology.
