It's a not-commonly-used abbreviation for "oscilloscope."  It expands out to
"cathode-ray oscilloscope," since older scopes (and the lower end of
currently-available scopes) used CRTs for their displays.  Many newer
scopes, as with TVs and computer monitors, use LCDs instead.

(The scopes we have at the office all use LCDs, but I have a couple of
Tektronix boatanchors at home (a 545A and an RM585A) that use CRTs...and
dozens of other types of vacuum tubes.)
