Right--the content "owners" get to re-sell the same content multiple
times and the DRM owners get their "30 pieces of silver" on each
license.

Technology revolutions like VHS and the PC compatible proved the value
of open systems that can be implemented by anyone. I find the fact that
this is being slowly eroded in favour of technologies based off open
systems that are then locked down by an unethical perversion of
copyright law to be a far more pressing issue than the fact that my
0.99c iTunes track can't be transferred without quality loss onto a
competitors portable audio device.

Totally agree.  And devices that receive or play HD programming
generally limit the resolution of any unencrypted output!
