I remember when I was in elementary school (1989-1995) that we had a
lab of Apple //gs computers booting threw a server. I would like to
know what the server is that was used. It was a silver box with a few
status lights on it. It used a cat-3(? phone line) to connect all the
computers together. If a brake in the line was made (unplugging the
network line), all the computers will crash (I had fun doing this in
the lab).
The workstation would boot to a menu that the user can scroll threw and
select a program that would boot as if the user had placed a disk in
the drive and was booting off it.
I have been trying to figure this out for the past few years. If any
one would know what the server is, I would like to know. I was working
in a school that was still using it, but they threw it out and I never
got to look at it. (The school was replacing all computers with win xp.)
