According to information from various sources, Commodore actually did use
Timex TS-1000 computers as doorstops. It happened something like this...
As a promotional gimmick, Commodore offered a $100 rebate to anyone offering
any computer or game console as a trade in when buying a C64. A New York
chain called Crazy Eddy started selling the cheap Timex TS-1000 for $10 so
that customers could get the rebate. Commodore was flooded with thousands of
the cheap TS-1000 computers. Commodores marketing department asked the
engineering department to find a use for them. The engineering department
started using them for doorstops, as they were useless for anything else.
