FWIW I think it's a brilliant idea. There's also a great deal of
overlap between what you've achieved here, and a parallel thread in
this group talking about preserving disk images in pristine copy
protected form.

I appreciate your device doesn't handle that quite yet, but it's got
the capability, and the general idea in mind.
