Heh, that's a great story. Did you know that muscle fibers always fully
contract, so muscles modulate their strength by different firing
patterns for bundles of muscle fiber? You probably did what every
strength althlete attempts to do: fire every bundle simultaneously to
achieve maximum force. Well done!
Speaking of shocks, I remember as a kid finding a small but heavy metal
box with a rotary handle discarded at the local telephone exchange.
Upon turning the handle I immediately discovered that my left hand was
placed on the terminals of the generator.
At 14 or so I also learnt to respect an open monitor while adjusting
the convergence. Not that I'd recommend learning that way, but as you
say, it teaches well. ;-)
