Has anybody had any luck getting CiderPress and/or AppleWin running
under Wine, the "windows compatibility layer" for Linux?
CiderPress runs, and I can open disk images but can't open Shrinkit
files. I get an error saying the file was not in the expected format,
even though they are good files that work with CiderPress in Windows. I
also tried to convert a .dsk file to a .sdk file and CP acted like it
worked, but gave me the same error when I tried to open the shrinkit
file.
AppleWin seems to run, but I can only get a blank black screen when
booting any disk that I've tried, including the master.dsk included
with it.
I'm trying this under Ubuntu 6.06. I've played around with Linux on and
off since the early days and it finally is getting good enough that I'm
using it for most of my everyday use. But CiderPress is absolutely
essential, and although Kegs works great, I also like AppleWin's nicer
user interface and additional features.
AppleCommander works with disk images (most of the time), but doesn't
handle ShrinkIt files, HFS volumes, CF cards, or many other things that
CiderPress does.
If anyone has any ideas but needs more information on versions, error
messages, etc., I'll get them.
