A "bad block" protection scheme is about the only protection scheme
that was really feasable on the GS with a 3.5" disk and ProDOS, so
what you say Peter makes sense. Although some groups like FTA did find
ways to access the hardware directly later on, this was difficult to do
with the Smartport and block devices.
