Can't speak for easy-to-come-by vulcans, but I blew my power supply
board when repairing the fan -- fortunately, the controller and drive
were not connected and thus are unaffected.
Since you still have the drive, it may be a cheap option to get a new
IDE controller from GSE-Reactive and a power-supply as well, unless you
are going to keep the vulcan look ;-) The GSE-Reactive power supply
offers a heck of a lot more wattage and cooling (my vulcan always ran
really hot in contrast)
