Martin, I'd say the base of hobbyists and collectors for the Apple II
(and other 8-bits) is growing tremendously.  I've watched the vintage
computer category on eBay grow from a few hundred items per week to a
few thousand in the last few years.  Plus we're seeing new products, web
sites, even podcasts devoted to the Apple II.  It's great!

Funny, but my subjective impression of the number of Apple II items
on eBay at any moment has not changed very much over the last 8 or 9
years.

Every once in a while there is a big pulse, or a dry spell, for a few
days, but the average level seems about the same (around 200-400 using
my search criteria).

It would be good to see some objective evidence for the size of the
Apple II community, and very interesting to see size trends as a
function of time.  (Now, if we could only get a question added to the
2010 census...  ;-)

It *is* gratifying to see more creative activity in the Apple II area.
