Apple ][ clean clone ROM?

With the topic of creating a clone of the Apple ][, obviously discussion 
turns to the ROMs...

I wonder how difficult it would be to use the documentation I've come up 
with working on SDDapple BWOR, to create such a ROM.  My code wasn't the 
best, was far from 100% compatible though it did work for a handful of 
games - maybe it could be backported to 6502 or 65C02 ASM.  Then of course 
we need a complete monitor and a clone of one of the BASICs...but perhaps 
a stub BASIC can be tossed in to allow BIN programs and such to load. 
Hell, this works for the MSX-compatible C-BIOS...
