I offer the following embellishment of a story I heard at Kansasfest
from one of the Apple II guys employed by Apple Inc.:

When Apple decides to create a new computer, the first thing they
do is hire an artist to design the team T-shirt. Then they hire
a second artist to design the case. Finally, they assign an engineer
to design a mainboard that will fit inside the case.
