Re: Unbelievable Auctions

G'day all,

I am an Aussie, and have only recently returned to the Apple II scene
and I was surprised at the prices some people here is Australia are
prepared to pay for the old apple stuff. However, I have also been
keeping an eye on the US ebay and I would say that both the Aus ebay
and US ebay have their "ridiculous" prices and "bargains" alike. I
personally have bought (from Aus ebay) a IIgs system complete with
monitor, 3.5"drive, 5.25" drive, keyboard and mouse for AU$76 (approx
US$55) - which although not a steal, is quite reasonable I thought. I
also purchased a IIe motherboard for AU$2.75 (I actually paid the guy
more coz I couldn't bring myself to only give him $2.75). But there
have been cases of IIe's going for over AU$200 and IIgs' going for well
over AU$300...

>From my limited experience (about 6 months) with buying Apple II gear
from eBay, there are two kinds of people selling - guys who are out to
make as much $$ as they can by having high starting prices or reserves,
and those who "go the extra distance" and keep starting prices
reasonable and throw in extra's to boot. Its a nice experience when you
happen to find people in the later category.
