I asked the guy who is producing this unit if it may be suitable for
use with an Apple IIgs and this was his response:

My converter is designed for TV use, specifically for the [Topfield
PVR].
So the 15kHz is OK, but the converter also requires composite video,
from which it
extracts sync information to add to the luminance (Y) signal for the
TV.

Computer video is  RGBHV, ie RGB with separate H-orizontal and
V-ertical sync.
Even if your machine used sync on green, my box won't work for you.

I know the IIgs can provide composite as well (heck what's another
cable?)
So I think it is still workwhile pursing, unless I'm missing something?
