Only the PAL Apples can show those four lines without color fringes,
since it's possible to leave on the burst, but turn off the "artifact
interpretation" circuitry.

In the NTSC Apples the artifacts are interpreted in the TV set, not
inside the Apple, so you can do nothing about it.
