Funny. Most Commodore and IBM owners of the day didn't particularly. 
Even those who really felt strongly about the one they chose for 
themselves had enough self-confidence to be happy with their own choice 
instead of being threatened by the fact that not everyone agreed with 
them.

The Windows "OSes" of the 1980s weren't OSes. Even Microsoft didn't 
claim they were.

Superior to _what_?

Your current favorite OS is 8 years old and was out-of-date - outclassed 
by products not only from Microsoft's competitors but from Microsoft 
itself - the day it was released.
