Around here, I would check thrift stores.  Old Mac cables are
usually about $1.  Ditto DE-9 serial cables.

Why not steal a DB15 cable from an old PC joystick/gamepad? They should be a dime a dozen an any thrift store.

I *like* it!  I'd forgotten about PC joysticks...
