At risk of jumping into someone else's argument, I'll offer the
following "wisdom":

Since I've been haunting CSA2 a lot of similar ideas have been
discussed, but none have actually come to fruition as a result of said
discussion... usually it just goes downhill to the point of people
being much more hostile to each other's ideas than is warranted. The
bottom line is that virtually everyone who has the knowledge to advance
an opinion has a different set of goals/wishes.

It's also worth noting that most of the new Apple II products that have
been realised in the last few years have come about as the result of
individuals being quietly persistent in their work. this isn't to say
there is no room for opinion-seeking in the development stage (Henry
from GSE-Reactive uses CSA2 as a sounding board now and then), but I
think it's just too easy for things to get fragmented, especially when
the ideas being discussed are as "fantastic" as the ones in this
thread.

While I would personally love to see a fast, modern Apple II clone and
I'm even fairly certain it will happen sooner or later as there seems
to be a few people with the skills _and_ interest, I sincerely doubt
that it will be publicly developed over usenet. I'm guessing this is
the kind of "shutting up" that mdj is suggesting, ie: get the ball
rolling to the point where it has sufficient momentum to keep going and
_then_ ask for opinions as to where it should be rolled to.

This has been One Man's Opinion... now back to the fisticuffs ;-)
