In addition to what was on the IWM Disk II controller, Apple added more firmware and some additional custom logic to implement block access to something like the 800k 3.5.Interesting, never heard of that card before. In fact I've read in multiple places on the web that 3.5 inch (other than Unidisk) wasn't usable on a IIe before the Superdrive controller came out, so it seems that the card is not well known at all.
Isn't it likely that it was never made except in prototype quantities? ...and never offered for sale.
What are the system requirements for the Universal Controller? Any slotted Apple and an Apple 3.5 drive? Or does it require an enhanced IIe? Does it work with Superdrive mechanisms (albeit of course 800k only)? How rare is this card by the way? Just as rare as the Superdrive card?
Very much rarer, I expect. -michael Music synthesis for 8-bit Apple II's! Home page: http://members.aol.com/MJMahon/ "The wastebasket is our most important design tool--and it is seriously underused."
