I just purchased an Apple //gs from an EBay auction. I bought the //gs
after spending an afternoon playing with an Apple // emulator on my PC. I
had such a feeling of being home again that I had to try to buy one.
I have been away from the Apple ][ world since 1990 or so. I started out
with an Apple //c in 1984, then moved up to the Apple //gs, eventually to
Macs, and then to PC's when Windows 95 came out.
I think the first thing I will need to do is get a SCSI card and a hard
drive. Believe it or not, back in the day I had a Mac Classic and a //gs
hooked up to a single 20MB SCSI drive and both computers worked fine. The
really interesting thing is that there was disk space left!! Hell, Office
alone takes 145MB now!
I probably will need some assistance images from my PC to the //gs.
I've been lurking on the board for a couple of days now and I am very
impressed by the level of devotion to the old Apple ][. I can't wait till
the machine gets here!
