When I started playing with applesoft about 13 years ago, I didn't
know how to get input besides:
GET A$
INPUT A$
I wrote a "game" for the text screen (I didn't know how to do hplot,
plot, etc)
the input loop for the game looked like this:
vtab 21:get a$
if a$="J" then x=x-1
if a$="J" then x=x+1
if x=1 then goto 500
if x=2 then goto 600
500 home
510 print " 0 "
520 print "---"
530 print " | "
540 print "---"
550 goto 10
500 home
510 print " 0 "
520 print " ---"
530 print " | "
540 print " ---"
550 goto 10
I didn't know about htab. Old "cells" of animation were erased with
the HOME command... to move your character you had to press
left<return> or right<return>
because I didn't know about htab, I put spaces on the left side of the
character, within the "draw" code.
:-)
It isn't that important to me to use CONTROL-C as a copy command...
control-X works fine
If I allowed control-C it would be tough to BREAK the program to debug
it.
