Re: Cable construction queries...

I think using the annunciator is the simplest output you can do. When I was experimenting with networking over the game port in high school years ago I just used some small wires and shoved them into the sockets, maybe 22-28 gauge? I had those external breakout boxes to plug in multiple devices and had a ZIF socket in one to make it easier to mess with. You could probably make your own cables with some decent machine sockets and a couple wires and just make a few to daisy chain.

I know michael mahon's site on nadanet has a lot of technical details on how many machines you can drive from a single annunciator, making a small amplifier to do more, and modifying the newer //e to increase the number of machines you can drive (according to his site when they hooked up the open/closed apple keys to the pb inputs they did something to greatly reduce the driving ability, I think). hmmm, here you go:

I don't think any annunciators exists in the db9 pinout. There's only space for ground, +5v, 3 buttons, 4 pots.

I suspected that would be the answer... is there an alternative to using
the annunciator as the Trig Out signal? I suppose since only the IIc lacks
the internal game I/O this is not such a big problem.

Regarding the actual wiring: assuming I can get the necessary 16-pin plugs
at Radio Shack, what guage/type of wire is best for this? How long can I
safely make the cable? Is it possible to drive PB(0) on two or more Apples
from a single annunciator output?
