Re: OT: Re: Apple II SCSI Card For Trade

The biggest difference on the surface, it supports Inside Mac V
partitioning. the standard partitioning scheme that allows the drive to
be moved between A2 and Mac, and have multiple partitions, more than 2
that the original SCSI card supported. (or 4 that you could get if you
put it in a certain slot). The partitioning scheme was updated to
support larger capacity drives that were becoming more commonly used
and to have a standard for large capacity removable devices such as
SyQuest, Bernoulli Box and CD ROM, and the Sloptical.

Inside Mac V is so named because it's spec was published in Inside
Macintosh Vol. 5. The ongoing Technical Reference for the Mac product
line.

The Apple II SCSI card was originally released bundled with the Apple
HD 20 SC for the Apple //e and IIgs. That was the Rev. A. The Rev. B
was a year after introduction, a firmware upgrade for IIgs issues.
Probably similar to the Sider and ProFILE.

The Rev. C firmware upgrade was required when the Apple CD SC was put
out ($1199!!) now, $11.99 ;-)
