The trick with accelerators is to ensure that they only speed up the
slow parts of the game, like loading times or screen transitions, not
music, sound effects, graphic movement or input time restrictions.

Also, do accelerators exist that can allow you to select multiple
speeds?  12MHz may be too fast for many games but useful for very
intense graphics software while 6MHz may be closer to a "sweet spot"
where games run smooth as butter.
