Re: Apple 1 replica on eBay

i wonder if some of the reason this auction is high is that.....(and
assuming you are rich as oprah)

1) there are apple 1 computers out there..worth what $15,000.00 or more and
well..do you really want to
fire one of these babies up to see something start to smoke or crap out for
messing around with old apple 1 programs when you could get a true replica
to muck with ?

2) if it is made with all or orig OEM parts and such...ie a hand copy
already made and ready to go..well
if you have more money then well ......practically everybody...and you made
your fortune by messing around and
getting into computers with your first apple 1 (which you may not have
anymore and/or don't want to muck with (see 1) well...2550 bucks might be a
deal...

3) you have a partially or ruined orig apple 1 computer...and this is a
great source of parts and/or place to start
to engineer a revival of your original unit (ie check part numbers...follow
circuits..etc)..so then you will have 2 of
them for your efforts from this copy.....

4) put it in a time capsule in the backyard and tell your family of the
future to dig it up ..viola an apple 1 with orig
parts..... who is gonna be able to tell 100 years from now that it is not
the real deal...then it is really worth big bucks and it is the only one
that actually works!

(side note ethical question...hmmm...if i made an exact copy of an apple 1
computer..with orig OEM parts....would i say
it was a replica?....hmmm....i have 30 yr old solder around here
someplace....where the heck was that coffee table book i
was given one xmas on great forgeries of the art world and how they did it
.....ah the internet has info....its do'able..)

msg ends..sudden noise of me scrambling off to the workshop mumbling ..my
pretty my pretty to self..rubbing hands together...
