My Woz PS died at 3 yrs after purchase.  I got the AE.  It lasted three
years.

I did this.  A silver brick sitting besides the GS isn't pretty, but it
lasted for 7 years before it died too.  The powersupply I took from
another GS (gave the motherboard to a fellow KFester) has lasted 5
years now with no problems.  Perhaps the power in my area was dirty and
they cleaned it it.  B-{)

I have a Kensington System Saver that serves well for this.

A nice PC PS does let things run cooler and better.  It just looks odd.
 I've got two of them on two GS's in my classroom.
