How about Telegard or Empire of the Over-Mind by Avalon Hill?
The screen shots I was able to find for Telengard have more complex
graphics than the game that I am thinking of. Empire of the Over-Mind
looks to be a text adventure game, and that game I am thinking of was not.
Below is the best rendition I can give of a screen shot of the dungeon.
This isn't an exact representation, but it is fairly close.

The real graphics may have been slightly different, but they weren't any
more advanced. I remember that the player character was an "H", but I
might be wrong. In addition to the square rooms as above, there were
also diamond shaped rooms, straight tunnels, T tunnels, and corners.
The square and diamond rooms could have between one and four entrances.
Ranged attacks were drawn as lines (which I have tried to represent, but
I know I didn't get it quite right). As Sean said earlier, I think
there was a "zoit" kind of noise played when you fired a ranged attack.
I hope this stirs someone's memory.
