well.i posted some more info on this in this area of the newsgroup...
it looks fairly straight forward...at the worst maybe you might have to run
your apple // network in 1983 time or some such if there is a y2k
issue...but
looks pretty good for me at least getting this system i have up and
working....basically find the 2 cards i mentioned in my prev post ..you prob
need a set of 4 lan tech cards total 2 of both types...(see prev posting in
this area) and the cables..software...manual etc etc i can make available
it is guite the deal there are subsections on how to setup appleworks...,
MECC, transfer of dos 3.3 software to network, businessworks program, PFS,
acewriter, pathfinder, b-sider tape backup, mr. fixit, beachcomber, etc...i
gather these required special setup rules or problems to be in the manual..i
know back in the day at one time somebody was running a dual phone line
setup using an apple ii bbs pkg and a lantech network this was around 1993
after i had my lost gonzo bbs up on the internet as a sub-system to my msdos
multiline mbbs beast...i think he had the lantech stuff given to him or
something.....i know in 1983 a version of applenet (pre-prodos apple bbs
..same name..not the more popular applenet bbs prodos from after)... on the
safehouse bbs in mnpls, mn ..a crack board and he was running a mater corvus
system and 2 slave //e's underneath a 3rd master //e using his own network
setup...he had chat (shout) etc..was quite cool ...time and temp, stuff
grabbed off compuserve etc
anyway...stuff to play with...so if you guys can find a source of cards you
prob can network this stuff
i'll see what kind success i have ..in supposedly i have all the parts and
info need just need to wrestle it together...
(then do what i usually do..oh...it works...and then pack it up with brief
..*unintelligable notes to anyone else on how i got it to work* and like a
good little pack rat ..toss said stuff (8"drive setup, ohio kache card,
whatever) into a nice little clear rubbermaid box..and stick it on a
shelf...thus is the fate of an apple ii pack rat...not only that i dare not
get rid of anything..in that i look on ebay and go yeeeek...at the
prices...i assume i will get hit by a truck ..it will all go to a landfill
and maybe 900 years from now i will be famous for the guy who made said
major archelogical find of rare pre-20th century polycarbon/plastic psudeo
computers...)
