Another possibility here would be a "LAN modem" that shares a dial-up
connection out to your network, if you don't want to have to fire up one
computer so another can get on the Internet. 3Com used to make one of
these; they probably show up on eBay from time to time. Actiontec also
makes one; you might find it in your local stores. I bought one at Fry's
for my parents before they switched to cable-modem service. It was about
$70, supports V.90 (maybe V.92; I don't recall offhand), and includes some
firewall capability.
